THE DECISION IN ONE LINE

Before paying, get the berth status, refund conditions and decision dates in writing.

01 / WHAT TO CHECK

Berth deposits, provisional holds and waitlist status

Ask whether money reserves a named berth, holds an offer, joins a waitlist or covers administration. Record any expiry date and what further approval is needed.

A waitlist position may change and may not suit every vessel. Confirm how boat dimensions and preferred dates affect eligibility.

Ask the operator
  • What exactly does this payment secure?
  • Is a berth named and confirmed?
  • How is waitlist priority determined?
02 / WHAT TO CHECK

Cancellation deadlines, refunds and changed allocations

Ask what happens if the marina cannot provide the expected berth, if your plans change or if the boat fails the final fit assessment. Read cancellation deadlines and refund deductions.

Keep receipts and current written terms. Do not rely on a directory listing as evidence of an offer or availability.

Ask the operator
  • When is the payment refundable?
  • What happens if the allocated berth changes?
  • Which deadline changes the cancellation amount?

QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Frequently asked questions about marina berth planning

Does a waitlist fee guarantee a berth?

Not unless the written terms say so. Ask what the payment does and how offers are made.

Is a provisional berth confirmed?

Treat it as unconfirmed until the operator states the vessel, dates and berth allocation are accepted.

Where should refund terms appear?

Request the current written booking or agreement terms and keep them with the payment record.
