Spread along Cabbage Tree Point Road at Steiglitz/Woongoolba, d'Albora Horizon Shores is one of the largest wet-berth marinas in Australia and the industrial heavyweight of the southern Moreton Bay waterfront. Despite the size, the setting is pure southern bay - mangrove-fringed Tipplers Passage, prawn trawlers working past, and South Stradbroke Island low on the eastern horizon. The clientele runs from trailer-boat fishos launching at dawn to big cruising cats and houseboats based here permanently, and the waterfront Anchorage Cafe keeps the place feeling like a destination rather than a depot. The property also functions as a small marine industry hub, with refit and repair businesses, brokerage sales and a steady throughput of survey and insurance work generated by the sheer number of hulls on site. For southern Moreton Bay, it is the closest thing to a one-stop boating suburb, and its growth plans suggest d'Albora intends to keep it that way for decades.

The wet-berth offering covers casual and long-term stays for monohulls, catamarans and houseboats to 25 metres, with power, water, access-controlled gates, after-hours security patrols and dockside assistance from staff who catch lines and help berth. Fuel is available 24/7 at the dock - diesel, ULP and premium - with marked-down member pricing, and the dockmaster works seven days. The boatyard is the centrepiece: a 70-tonne travelift hauls vessels to 80 feet onto a secure concreted hardstand, supported by two 10-tonne forklifts, a work arm, high-pressure water blasting and enclosed refit sheds measuring 23 by 12 by 10 metres that allow all-weather DIY and contractor work. Bookings are essential. The dry-stack operation stores boats fully enclosed; owners ring an hour ahead and the boat is launched onto a courtesy berth, then flushed, rinsed and racked on return, cutting antifoul, cover and trailer costs. Trailer-boat storage comes with unlimited launch and retrieval and a work area. The public four-lane ramp, with courtesy pontoons and staff managing movements, charges a flat $20 per launch with unlimited nights out, or an annual pass around $290-$299, with digital payment on site. A chandlery, ice and bait open seven days, and the Anchorage Cafe handles breakfast and lunch over the water. d'Albora layers its network benefits on top: the members' app books berths, dry-stack launches and fuel across all locations with reciprocal berthing rights, and d'Albora Yacht Brokers operates new and used boat sales from the site. Horizon Shores sits on Tipplers Passage, the protected inside channel running behind South Stradbroke Island, and that geography shapes everything. Boats coming up from the Gold Coast work north through the Broadwater and Jumpinpin, watching the shifting banks around the Pin; boats from Brisbane come down the western bay past Russell and Macleay Islands. Depths in southern Moreton Bay are modest - two to three metres at low water in places - and the channels are fairly marked but move after floods, so local charts and tide planning matter, especially for deep-draft yachts. The payoff is superb sheltered cruising: Tipplers Kiosk on South Stradbroke is a short hop, the Jumpinpin bar gives ocean access for the capable, and the island chain north to Moreton offers weeks of anchorages. Jacobs Well, a few minutes south by road or water, adds another ramp, a tavern and supplies, while the village of Woongoolba is a reminder this was cane and prawn country long before it was marina country. The marina's position halfway between Brisbane and the Gold Coast, roughly 40 minutes' drive from each, is why the dry stack and trailer storage fill with city-based owners. Prawns, sand crabs and flathead keep the fishing fleet busy, and the passage's protected water makes it a year-round training ground for new boaters. On big weekends the ramp is one of the busiest in the south-east, which is exactly why the marina staffs it and sells the annual pass. Arriving skippers should note that the approach channel into the marina off Tipplers Passage is well marked but shallow in patches, so deeper vessels time their arrival around mid-tide or better.
